BlenderArtists.org, then called elYsiun.com, was founded in 2000 by Timothy Kanters and Jude Aakjaer as a small forum where users of the free 3D creation suite Blender could talk about their favourite program and get support if they had a problem with it.

Blender is the free open source 3D content creation suite, available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License.
